John Monsees is a writer and artist based on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He writes dark fiction – horror, crime, and dark fantasy – and non-fiction on a wide variety of topics. John paints in oils and acrylics, draws, and dabbles in other media. In his spare time he enjoys tabletop gaming, playing guitar and synths, watching low-budget horror and exploitation movies, cooking, and reading everything he can get his hands on.
John was born in New Jersey in 1975, and lived in a variety of places in New York City from 1987 to 2015. He has worked in retail, construction, commercial writing, printing, and entertainment, as well as owning and operating a record store and online collectables business. He is married with three children.
